Process Story Anxiety (PSA)
Definition:
A type of neurosis named after body transformation paraphilia website: The Process Productions
Blooperverse characters all have a certain tolerance for change and rate of the processes they can experience or witness without going into some sort of mental breakdown. The reactions vary between individuals and manifestations but most often result in panic attacks, emotional distress, rage or terror.
Milder reactions such as lingering feelings of inadequacy, unhealthy methods of problem solving, and personal resentment also fall under the spectrum of PSA.
Common triggers:
Role-reversal.
Where the traditionally dominant (physical or other) sees his superiority being threatened in what he considers an unfair or unnatural way. Ex: The younger sibling magically becoming a muscular powerhouse.Loss of personal attributes/self-worth.
When an attribute or trait by which a character defines himself (Directly or indirectly) is taken away. Ex: A busty playmate losing her prized bosoms.Being left out of a privileged group.
When a fraction within group of characters gains privilege and others do not breaking the group dynamic by creating a discrepancy in their ability to achieve shared or common objectives. Ex: A group of nerdy students turn into hot bodied geniuses after drinking Funky-Spiced chocolate Milk, except fort the two of them who did not because of their lactose intolerance.Unfathomable mystery or tragedy.
When a set of fundamental constants by which a character defines his whole worldview are changing. Ex: The character is an orphan working on a farm to sustain himself and his frail little sister. When his parents suddenly show up, apparently never dead, just to laugh at him. His sister turns into a Valkyrie and battles the living dead to stop them from returning to their graves. As it often is with Neurosis, a character can recover by himself or with the help of others, but relapse is always a risk.
