Growth Conduit Addiction (GCA)

Definition:

Mental/Physical condition (also refered to as Zapper Addiction or Spice Addiction)
A type of manic behavior found in the Blooperverse and other growth fiction settings

Blooperverse Characters can devellop physical addiction to substances such as alcaloids like cafeine and nicotine. They can also become addicted to fictionnal substances, such as the active ingredients of Funky-Spice or Zapper beams. The addiction can be exacerbated with combination to Growth Greed, which by itself can be viewed as a form of psychological addiction.

A thin line can be drawn where the psychological side of the addiction (to the feeling of growth or transformation and the other related gains) and the physical addiction which is the body craving the biochemical reaction and the following release of pleasure hormones by the body. Cases of addiction without the greed have been documented by the FSRI and the Terran conglomerate's science division.

Typical subject behavior will be:
Lack of control
Seeking out situations where the substance is present
Inability to stay away from a substrance
Decreased socialization
Episodes of binging or loss of control
Ignoring the negative consequences of their actions
increased secrecy, like lying about the amount of substance used

Like any addiction, there is no real cure or remission, only abstinance and discipline can help control the cravings over time.
