Stephanie was first introduced as a Poser-Brother contestant, she was immediately recognized as one of the more atheltic contestants with superior hand-to-hand combat skills. On Starship Bloopers TOS, Stephanie was the original Chief of Security and held the rank of Lieutenant. In the final hours of the Wars of the 3 Kingdoms, Stephanie was promoted to First officer in a dramatic twist of events and the proceded to buy Jim's ship when he announced his retirement.
Hard times
During the 4 seasons of the original run, Stepahnie's mettle was harshly tested. First she was injured in battle and then developped Zapper-addiction. Those events put her on medical leave twice and got her suspended once, after one of her Zapper binges reportedly grew her to 9' of height with unbalanced body proportions making her internal organs barely capable of supporting her blood volume. She also developped remanant side effects from her Zapper abuse, turning her once atheltic and average height body to a strong and curvy 6'4". Although time, overwork and Zapper-abstinance have somewhat softened her body, she remains in good fighting shape.
Blooper-Powers, Tropes and special skills
Stephanie has one minor Blooper power: "Flash-Suit Monologue" Her power is activated by starting a monologue on who she really is and follows the pattern from the Cutey-Honney anime character by Go Nagai. When the monologue ends, a fanfare and chorus music starts playing and Stephanie leaps in the air briefly flashing her nude body and lands on her feet in her new outfit and gear, both of which are perfectly tailored to the needs of the situation.
Stephanie unfortunately suffers from the "Taking out Worf" trope as new characters needing to establish their threat level or badass status are introduced by showing them matching or overpowering Stephanie in a short bout of martial arts.
She also has a combat skill: "First Blood" When Stephanie enters a battle her first strike always results in her opponent being out for the count.
The recast
With the crew of Starship Bloopers: Mercenaries being headed towards Terran space, it is a high probability that an encounter with Stephanie's ship and crew will happen at some point.
The new Gen8 Character portrays Stephanie as a carreer minded, childless single woman in her mid-thirties. As a Captain, Stephanie puts a high emphasis on training her crew but is more relaxed on other facets of military discipline such as Formal language or Uniform.
Stephanie herself rarely wears full uniform, when on duty she usually wears her Red fatigues shirt and Terran Privateer jacket with civilian pants and footwear. She also encourrages her crew to dress however they want as long as they can be identified to her crew, their individual division and rank. One will often hear a crew member, usually a fellow officer, address her as "boss", "coach" or simply "Steph". Other monickers such as "Mom", "Madam S." or "Our fearless leader" are sometimes used in private or for comedic effect.
While the original Character weilded an Electro-blade, the recast upgraded to a lighter, more elegant side-arm: A polarized-DarkMatter Katana. Polarization prevents the DarkMatter blade from phasing while remaining impervious to physical, energy and even AntiMatter contacts. Such blades are a rarety and only a handful of Teran officers are known to wield them. She also carries a multi-setting Zapper to enhance her troops if boarded.
Because of her Security background, Stephanie can get very hands-on with combat assignment preparations and will lead the away team herself on occasions.
